Full job description

Blüm Academy is a Montessori and Reggio-inspired early learning community focused on creating beautiful, intentional spaces for children, families, and Educators. As we prepare to launch our newest Parkdale campus, we are looking for a reliable, hands-on team member to support the final stages of setup and day-to-day operational tasks leading into opening.

This is a highly active, practical role ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, takes initiative, and likes being part of building something from the ground up.

Position Overview

We are hiring a part-time contract Operations & Facilities Launch Assistant to support the setup and operational preparation of our new Parkdale campus over a 4-week launch period.

This role is approximately 25 hours per week and will involve a wide variety of facilities, operational, and executive support tasks. The work is primarily labour-based and requires someone comfortable working independently, lifting and moving furniture, assisting with installations, and helping bring a new campus to life.

Following the contract period, there may be an opportunity to transition into an ongoing permanent part-time role (10–15 hours/week) supporting facilities operations, campus maintenance, and special events across the school.

This could be an excellent summer position for a university student, trades-minded individual, or someone who enjoys hands-on project work.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Moving and assembling furniture
Hanging artwork, shelving, and classroom materials
Painting walls and completing touch-ups
Assisting with campus setup and organization
Replacing air filters and completing basic maintenance tasks
Supporting deliveries, pickups, and supply runs
Organizing storage areas and operational spaces
Assisting with event setup and breakdown
Supporting leadership with operational and executive tasks as needed
Identifying and helping solve practical day-to-day facility needs
General handywork and light repair support

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking someone who is:

Reliable, punctual, and highly dependable
Comfortable with physical labour and hands-on work
Organized and proactive
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Resourceful and solution-oriented
Professional, respectful, and adaptable in a school environment
Comfortable lifting and moving furniture/items throughout the day

Requirements

Valid driver’s license
Access to a reliable vehicle (required)
Ability to lift and move moderately heavy items
Basic handywork or maintenance experience is an asset
Experience in facilities, operations, construction support, moving, event setup, or similar hands-on roles is considered an asset
