Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Part-Time Truck Driver to join our growing team in Orillia. In this role, you will be essential in transporting materials and equipment to various job sites, using a combination of heavy, medium and light-duty automatic & manual transmission trucks, with our without float trailers. Some trucks and trailers are equipped with either an Air Brake or Hydraulic Brake System. Drivers are responsible to ensure secure loads while in transport, which includes proper loading, securing, and off-loading. When not engaged in operating a vehicle, it is expected that you are able to perform some hands-on labour duties to assist our crews in delivering high-quality roadwork, paving, pavement maintenance and site services as they relate to our service offerings. You will be essential in supporting our company's overall commitment to excellence and safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks--including single, tandem & tri-axle's--to transport asphalt, aggregate, equipment, and supplies to designated locations within the Orillia and surrounding areas. Most daily job sites are within (15) - (60) minutes of Orillia.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials while adhering to safety regulations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks in accordance with MTO and CVOR requirements, including proper logging.
- Assist with loading and unloading cargo as needed.
- Ensure loads are properly secured using straps, chains, and tarping in accordance with MTO regulations.
- Maintain accurate daily records and documentation.
- Ensure all vehicles are operated in compliance with Ontario Traffic laws, Smoke Free Ontario Act laws, and company safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, scale houses, team members and site managers.
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies during transportation activities.
- Assist with other duties as may be assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Class A(Z) Driver's License with clean driving record (minor convictions will be considered at Management's discretion).
- Must have a MINIMUM of (3) Years of Heavy Truck Driving experience.
- Proven experience as a truck driver, preferably in paving or construction industries, with direct experience in equipment/material transport.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment is an asset.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to transportation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Physical stamina for loading/unloading cargo.
- WHMIS Certification is required, and is offered through our internal employee-onboarding process.
- Employment will be subject to suitable insurability - Applicants must be over the Age of (25) with at least (3) Years of commercial-driving experience in order to be considered.
- Must be able to operate both Manual & Automatic Transmission Tri-Axle Dump Trucks.
- Must be able to read, write & speak English.
- Must be able to communicate over CB Radio, Two-Way Radio & Cellular Devices.

- Willingness to work some extended hours, including early mornings & evenings as required. Most Shifts are (8) - (10) hours in length, mainly scheduled Monday - Thursday.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions including, but not limited to: extreme heat & cold, wet/damp conditions, exposure to dust, noise, fumes, & gases.
