Job Description
Regional Communications Manager
As the Regional Communications Manager, you will proudly represent Canada’s Pacific Northwest Region, comprising five exceptionally distinctive, world-class hotels: Fairmont Empress, Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim, Fairmont Vancouver Airport, and Fairmont Waterfront.
You will report to the Regional Director of Marketing & Communications, managing communications and public relations activities to support the region. You will also work closely with Fairmont’s Corporate Office on brand communications initiatives and collaborate with the Region’s Marketing teams to implement these initiatives.
Your Key Relationships include: Regional and property Directors of Sales & Marketing, Directors of Food & Beverage, Directors of Operations, Catering & Special Events, Sales Managers, Area Revenue Management, Brand Marketing and E-Commerce teams.
Your Committee Presence and Participation: You will support hotel and regional committees by participating or championing the committees as required, including but not limited to our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Committee, and our committee dedicated to Social Responsibility, Ethics and Sustainability.
Your team and working environment:
As Communications Manager, you will be based at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. You will work alongside the Pacific Northwest Region Communications teams, as well as liaise with the Fairmont Hotels Corporate Marketing and E-Commerce team.

Regional Communications Strategy & Brand Positioning

Architect a proactive regional PR strategy that supports revenue objectives and aligns with corporate brand direction.

Assist in directing integrated communications and public relations programs across the region, working in partnership with hotel-level PR leaders who manage property-specific and in-house initiatives.

Develop annual strategic plans that span traditional media, digital channels, and influencer marketing in priority markets.
-
Assist in preparing and managing the regional PR budget in alignment with sales and marketing objectives.
-
Represent the region at premier media marketplaces and industry events.
Media Relations & Strategic Partnerships
-
Cultivate and steward relationships with Tier 1 journalists, editors, and creators across Canadian, U.S., and international travel and lifestyle media.

Identify and execute high-impact media, influencer, and partnership opportunities that elevate the region’s visibility in key markets.

Author and distribute compelling press releases, editorial pitches, and story angles that bring regional and local narratives to life.

Plan and host media visits, familiarization trips, and on-property hosting (including evenings and weekends as required).

Assist the hotels in lead influencer and content creator partnerships end-to-end—from vetting and KPI setting through campaign execution and post-collaboration analysis.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry partners, including Destination Vancouver, Destination BC and Destination Canada.
Storytelling, Content & Campaign Amplification
- Amplify on-property activations, culinary programming, and seasonal campaigns through earned-media coverage.

Assist with the creation and distribution of regional press kits, releases, editor advisories, and calendar listings, and ensure hotel pressrooms and story starters remain current in collaboration with corporate and agency partners.

Manage end-to-end execution of regional media events—from concept and budget development through program flow, stakeholder coordination, and on-time delivery.

Provide editorial guidance on marketing copy, advertising, and program briefs to ensure brand consistency.

Assist the hotels where needed with crafting executive communications, presentations, and key messaging for regional leadership.

Partner with the Regional Senior Manager, E-Commerce to ensure alignment across digital, social, and reputation management initiatives.

Support hotel Directors of Sales & Marketing with package development and promotional storytelling.

Develop non-traditional marketing and media partnerships that extend brand reach.

Contribute strategic and operational perspective to the development of branded programs.

Support internal communications and employee storytelling initiatives across the region.
Brand Reputation & Crisis Communications

Support with crisis communications planning and response for the region.
-
Manage incoming media inquiries and interview requests across the region, including the development of key messaging and spokesperson preparation for senior leadership (including the Regional Vice President, Pacific Northwest).

Monitor local, national, and international current affairs and industry trends, providing counsel on emerging reputational considerations.

Assist the hotels in overseeing online reputation management in alignment with brand standards.
Coordination, Reporting, Awards & Operational Excellence

Maintain a current centralized media database and update the regional media calendar weekly.

Maintain and update the regional media calendar on a weekly basis

Deliver monthly, mid-year, and annual PR reports to the regional executive team and corporate office.

Identify and pursue industry award opportunities, leading the development of nominations aligned with brand strategy.

Support additional initiatives as directed by the Regional Director of Marketing & Communications.

Qualifications
What We're Looking For

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field; a minimum of five years of equivalent experience in the luxury sector will also be considered.

Established network of Canadian, U.S., and international travel media and influencer contacts.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to craft compelling content across a range of formats and audiences.

Proven experience in crisis communications and online reputation management.

Proficiency with CisionOne or comparable media monitoring and distribution platforms.

Strong financial literacy, with the ability to interpret data and manage budgets.

Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships across the industry and broader community.

Results-driven and highly adaptable, with the ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain a positive, solutions-focused approach.

Flexibility to travel and work non-standard hours as the business requires.

Strong digital and computer literacy.
