Job Summary:
The Electrical Designer’s primary function is to design, plan, research, evaluate and test electrical equipment and systems and to provide full cycle electrical designs and drawings from concept to completed product. The Electrical designer will work closely with the Electrical Design Supervisor to ensure successful project designs.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate electrical and electromechanical project requirements and create designs that meet project success criteria.

3. Develop electrical control systems, control panels and other related electrical hardware products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
4. Produce detailed specifications, drawing packages & Bill of Materials.
5. Research and ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and regulations.
6. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
7. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
8. Assure system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes that conform to AVL ISO quality procedures.
9. Work well with other Professionals within and outside the Engineering Department.
10. Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and relevant codes & practices.
11. Provide external technical support to new and existing customers through field visits, customer meetings, and design reviews.
12. Participate in estimating, including component selection, costs, timing estimates, reports and designs.
Job Specific Qualifications:
1. Degree in Electrical Engineering with 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
2. Control Engineering systems design, PLC design and programming knowledge.
3. High level of CAD / AutoCAD Electrical knowledge and experience.
4. Strong Proficiency with Electrical Codes – NFPA79, NEC, CEC, CSA and UL.
5. Good computer skills in MS Office, including MS Project.
6. Good Design Skills, Presenting Technical Information, Conceptual Skills, Quality Focus.
7. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
