Location (onsite)

About Charge Solar
Charge Solar is Canada’s largest solar, battery storage, and EV charging solutions provider. Headquartered in Victoria, BC, we supply products and deliver engineering services to installers across the country, helping accelerate Canada’s transition to clean energy.
Our national Technical Services team designs and authenticates electrical and mechanical systems behind that transition. We are growing quickly, and we are building a department where engineers can see a clear, structured path from Engineer-in-Training all the way through senior Professional Engineer.
About the Role
We are seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) who is early in their professional career and eager to make a real impact — on our projects, on the renewable energy industry, and on the environment. In this role you will take ownership of electrical design and authentication for solar and storage projects, working alongside an experienced national engineering team.
This is a high-impact role with a clear growth path. You will carry real professional responsibility, with direct support and mentorship from the Director of Technical Services and our team of experienced engineers as you grow into broader project leadership. It sits at the early-career, intermediate Professional Engineer levels of our career framework, with a defined path through to senior engineer and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical design & authentication — produce, review, authenticate, and take professional responsibility for electrical designs on renewable energy projects, with support from senior engineers as you build your portfolio of authenticated work.
- Design & drafting — produce and review project-specific electrical drawings using CAD software.
- Project delivery — manage the engineering execution of assigned projects from RFP through completion, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget, and to a high quality and safety standard.
- Proposals — contribute to proposal development by helping define technical scope, calculate fees, and respond to client requests.
- Utility interconnection — complete and submit distributed generation applications, Connection Impact Assessments (CIA), and ESA plan-review submittals.
- Technical support — build knowledge of Charge Solar’s product catalogue and provide technical guidance to clients in the field on renewable energy products and systems.
- Collaboration & knowledge-sharing — collaborate with and share knowledge across the team, including engineers-in-training and technologists, and contribute technical expertise in team and company meetings.
- Site visits — conduct site visits to meet professional obligations and provide field support.
- Administration — maintain project information in the project-management platform and support invoicing and related tasks.
- Cross-functional support — assist sales, marketing, business development, and operations on activities related to engineering services.
About You
Beyond the technical qualifications, we are looking for someone who brings:
- Bias for action — you take ownership, move quickly, and follow through without waiting to be asked.
- Driven by impact — you want your work to make a tangible difference to the organization, the industry, and the environment.
- Growth mindset — you actively seek feedback, learn fast, and want to grow into senior technical leadership.
- Collaborative and humble — you work well across disciplines and freely share what you know.
- High standards — you care about quality, safety, and doing things right the first time.
Qualifications
Required
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Electrical Engineering (candidates in the final stages of obtaining licensure may be considered).
- Licensed to practise professional engineering in one of BC (EGBC), Alberta (APEGA), or Ontario (PEO), with the willingness and ability to obtain licensure in the others and additional Canadian jurisdictions as required.
- Experience in electrical design, and a readiness to take professional responsibility.
- Proficiency in DraftSight (or AutoCAD).
- Willingness to work onsite from one of our Victoria, Calgary, or Barrie locations, with travel for site visits as required.
Preferred
- Experience in renewable energy system design or implementation (solar PV, battery storage).
- Experience with renewable Connection Impact Assessments (CIA) and ESA plan-review submittals.
- Exposure to project management practices or training.
- Strong written and verbal communication, including client-facing communication.
Compensation & Career Path
This role is posted at the early-career, intermediate Professional Engineer levels, with a salary range of $86,000 – $110,000 CAD per year. Your starting level and salary within that range will reflect your experience, scope of responsibility, and breadth of licensure.
Charge Solar uses a transparent, competency-based career framework. Progression is based on demonstrated competencies — we recognize and reward proven performance — giving you a clear, structured path from here through to senior Professional Engineer and technical leadership.
