Full job description

Our client is seeking a Contract hands-on Azure Infrastructure & Platform Lead to support a large-scale cloud transformation and migration initiative within a complex enterprise environment.
This is a technical leadership role requiring deep expertise in Azure cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps, CI/CD pipeline development, and cloud platform engineering. The successful candidate will lead by example, remaining actively involved in the design, build, automation, and deployment of cloud infrastructure while collaborating with engineering, security, and delivery teams.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience building Azure environments from the ground up and implementing secure, automated cloud platforms that support enterprise-scale application delivery.
Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
Develop and implement enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines from the ground up.
Lead cloud platform engineering efforts supporting migration and modernization initiatives.
Build secure, scalable, and automated cloud environments leveraging Azure-native services.
Implement DevSecOps best practices and integrate security tooling into CI/CD pipelines.
Partner with development, security, architecture, and infrastructure teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
Drive infrastructure automation and platform standardization initiatives.
Establish deployment frameworks, governance controls, and operational best practices.
Support cloud migration projects involving legacy application and infrastructure modernization.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure and deployment issues.
Mentor team members and provide technical leadership while remaining actively involved in delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years of infrastructure, cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering experience.
Strong hands-on Azure cloud infrastructure experience.
Proven experience designing and building Azure environments from scratch.
Extensive experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Advanced experience with:
- Terraform
- Ansible
Strong experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines from the ground up.
Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and/or modern DevOps tooling.
Strong scripting and automation experience.
Experience working within large-scale cloud migration initiatives.
Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture and cloud operating models.

DevSecOps & Security Expertise
Candidates must demonstrate practical experience embedding security throughout the software deliverylifecycle, including:

DevSecOps implementation and governance
Security tooling integration within CI/CD pipelines
Infrastructure security automation
Vulnerability scanning and remediation processes
Secrets management
Identity and access management (IAM)
Secure deployment pipelines
Policy-as-Code and compliance automation
Cloud security best practices

Azure Expertise
Strong experience with Azure services including:

Azure Virtual Networks
Azure Landing Zones
Azure Key Vault
Azure Storage
Azure Monitor
Azure Application Gateway
Azure Load Balancers
Azure Identity Services
Azure Policy
Azure DevOps
Azure Security Center / Defender
Azure Resource Manager (ARM)

Preferred Qualifications

Banking or Financial Services industry experience.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud migration programs.
Azure certifications (Administrator, Engineer, Architect, Security, or DevOps).
Experience working within highly regulated environments.
Exposure to containerization and Kubernetes technologies.
Experience with modern platform engineering practices.

Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be a builder first and a leader second. You should be comfortable architecting cloud platforms while also rolling up your sleeves to build infrastructure, automate deployments, troubleshoot environments, and implement secure delivery pipelines.
This role is best suited to someone who has led cloud infrastructure initiatives while remaining deeply technical and actively contributing to solution delivery.
