Summary
TheHeavy Duty Operator operates and maintains heavy machinery used in excavation projects, such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, and loaders. They are responsible for safely and efficiently performing tasks like digging, grading, trenching, and material handling to meet project specifications and deadlines. They report to the Site Supervisor and will execute these tasks to the highest quality standards in a professional, responsible, and timely manner, while contributing to positive morale, and customer satisfaction. They must possess a positive attitude with other team members and portray a professional business image.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned)
These are the most prominent functions, responsibilities, and aspects of the job:
1. Machinery Operation:
· Operate heavy-duty excavation equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, trenchers, and loaders.
· Perform excavation tasks, including digging, backfilling, grading, and material moving.
· Ensure precise and accurate operation to meet project requirements.
2. Safety and Compliance:
· Follow all safety protocols and operating procedures.
· Conduct pre-operation inspections to identify and report potential equipment issues.
· Adhere to local and federal safety and environmental regulations.
3. Equipment Maintenance:
· Perform routine maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, lubricating parts, and cleaning machinery.
· Report and coordinate repairs for equipment malfunctions or damage.
· Keep detailed records of maintenance and inspections.
4. Site Coordination:
- Work closely with site supervisors, surveyors, and other crew members to execute excavation plans.
- Adjust operations based on site conditions and supervisor instructions.
- Monitor surroundings to prevent damage to utilities, structures, and other site elements.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
· Log daily activities, including hours of operation, materials moved, and project progress.
· Report any incidents, delays, or safety concerns to the site supervisor.
6. Efficiency and Productivity:
- Optimize machine performance to complete tasks within set timelines.
- Manage fuel consumption and minimize downtime by maintaining a steady workflow.
- Adapt to changing conditions and resolve on-site challenges promptly.

Working Conditions
· Full-time position, 50 hours per week, to be determined based on business needs.
· May involve extended hours, including weekends (but not typical).
· Primarily on-site at excavation locations with varying weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
· Must have physical stamina to operate machinery for extended periods.
· Must have the capacity to lift heavy tools or materials as needed.
