SB Canada is currently seeking a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our organization. This position will be based in Calgary (central hub) and requires the flexibility to perform site visits throughout Western Canada, from time to time. This position is part of a unionized environment. We are seeking candidates who are open to working in a unionized workplace.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
- Complete repairs on equipment such as Soilmec, Liebherr, Watson, Bauer, Link-Belt, Terex, APE, Kubota, John Deere, Case, CAT equipment of all sizes.
- Able to work with peers in both maintenance and operations.
- Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all owned and leased on/off road equipment.
- Support the Maintenance Assist (MA) software by completing reports and initiating given repair/maintenance tasks.
- Complete equipment on-hire and off-hire inspections.
- Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to determine faults and malfunctions.
- Proficient troubleshooting skills - hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair.
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
- Mobilization & De-mobilization of equipment for maintenance and repair.
- Aid field crews with rig up / rig down of drilling equipment.
- Commission acquired assets as required.
- Order parts for servicing, complete reports and fill out work orders.
- Teach apprentices and mentor Mechanics/Operators.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful
- Valid Red Seal Off-Road Journeyman Equipment Mechanic/Technician.
- Minimum 5-year experience on off road equipment such as: Excavators, Loaders, Hydraulic Drilling Rigs, Cranes, Tracked equipment.
- Possess distinguished troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Able to work under minimal supervision efficiently.
- Basic knowledge of computer-based programs.
- Present professional work behaviors.
- Act as a leader in the workplace in daily interactions.
