Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and facilities to ensure smooth operations. This role requires a proactive approach to prevent downtime and maintain a safe, efficient work environment. The Maintenance Technician plays a vital part in supporting the overall productivity and safety of our operations.

Duties

Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs promptly to minimize operational disruptions
Use hand tools and power tools to repair, replace, or install mechanical components (typically stick/gas metal arc welding, plasma cutters, acetylene torches etc.)
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs performed
Assist in the installation of new equipment and upgrades as needed
Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies during all maintenance activities
Respond quickly to emergency repair requests to restore equipment functionality
Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize impact on production
Read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
Operate heavy equipment, forklift, wheel loader, skid steer, genie, etc
Ability to work overtime as necessary and/or rotating shifts including on-call rotation
Perform other duties as required

Experience

Red Seal Millwright/Welder Journeyperson Certificate is preferred; Apprentices, and those with appropriate work experiences will be considered
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose issues efficiently
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for various repair tasks
Familiarity with safety protocols related to maintenance work
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams is preferred
Prior experience with preventative maintenance programs is a plus

Work Schedule

First 3 weeks - Monday to Friday; 8 hour days, then transition to a 4x10 schedule

This position offers an opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background to contribute significantly to operational excellence. Candidates should be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
