POSITION SUMMARY

As the Supervisor, Civil Construction with Tahltan Nation Development Corporation (TNDC), you will lead the delivery of key infrastructure projects, including road building, utilities, and water systems. In this hands-on role, you will oversee daily field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

You will work closely with crews and project teams to drive performance, promote a strong safety culture, and play a meaningful role in supporting sustainable development and opportunities for the Tahltan Nation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise and coordinate daily field activities for:

Road construction (grading, base, paving prep)
Waterline installation and tie-ins
Underground utilities (sewer, storm, electrical, communications)
General civil works and site development

· Lead and direct crews, equipment operators, and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work execution

· Plan daily and weekly work activities in alignment with project schedules and priorities

· Ensure all work is performed in compliance with:

Safety regulations and company policies
Environmental requirements
Project drawings, specifications, and quality standards

· Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks

· Identify and resolve field issues, including design conflicts, resource constraints, and safety concerns

· Monitor productivity, track progress, and report on performance to project management

· Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment

· Manage materials, equipment, and labor resources effectively

· Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and documentation

· Support cost control by minimizing rework, waste, and downtime

· Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all crews

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of civil construction experience (supervisory experience preferred)
Experience in road building, utilities, and heavy civil/infrastructure projects
Relevant diploma or certification considered an asset
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract
First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, drawings, and specifications
Solid understanding of safety standards and regulations (COR, OH&S)
Proven leadership skills with ability to manage and motivate crews
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work in fast-paced, remote, or rotational environments
Proficient with basic computer applications and reporting tools

Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing

Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members, especially local Tahltan workers, by sharing technical skills, safety practices, and industry knowledge in a respectful and culturally aware manner. Uphold Tahltan values and principles by fostering a work environment built on respect, teamwork, and mutual learning. Support the growth of the Tahltan workforce by helping build capacity, promoting safe and effective work practices, and ensuring that knowledge is passed on to strengthen both the team and the broader Tahltan community for the benefit of current and future generation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Field-based role in outdoor environments (various weather conditions)
Travel to project sites required
Extended hours and overtime may be required based on project demands
Physically demanding environment requiring site mobility
