SUMMARY
Shift: Day Shift ( 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday)
Salary: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour depending on experience and skill set
We are seeking a Sheet Metal Worker / Press Brake Operator to support operations in our Metal Shop. This role primarily focuses on operating a press brake and assisting with various sheet metal fabrication tasks to ensure efficient production and high-quality finished products.
In addition to fabrication duties, the position includes general material handling responsibilities, such as moving sheet metal materials and finished parts throughout the facility using appropriate equipment, including a propane forklift when required. The role also involves packing completed products for shipment or internal production use and supporting a variety of shop floor activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform pemming operations on sheet metal components.
- Use hand and power tools to trim, buff, smooth, clean threads, and grind metal surfaces and joints of assembled metal parts.
- Support press brake operations and other sheet metal fabrication tasks when required.
- Prepare and pack finished sheet metal parts on pallets or in boxes for internal transfer or shipment.
- Operate computerized equipment used to cut, bend, or straighten sheet metal.
- Ensure safety is maintained at all times while operating equipment, handling materials, and fabricating metal components.
- Read and follow Manufacturing Instructions and complete production documentation as required.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the workstation and department.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately.
- Operate a propane forklift to move sheet metal (up to 5’ x 12’), pallets, and scrap materials within the facility.
- Provide occasional backup support for company delivery runs when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform moderate lifting and material handling.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, and manual dexterity.
- Basic understanding of practical mathematics, geometry, and document reading.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working in a metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a sheet metal or manufacturing environment is an asset
- Experience operating CNC or manual press brake machines is an asset
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating forklifts in tight spaces or with large materials is an asset.
- Experience working with fabrication equipment such as grinders, deburring tools, or cutting machines.
- Experience with packing, material handling, and preparing fabricated metal parts for shipment.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to support occasional local delivery runs if required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and precision work.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and manufacturing equipment.
- Employees are required to wear CSA-approved steel-toed safety boots while working in the metal shop.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are typical of a manufacturing environment and may include exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate noise levels. Employees are required to follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment when operating machinery or handling materials.
