Vacancy Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.
Reporting to the Associate Solicitor, the successful candidate will provide a full range of legal support services, including preparation and registration of real estate closing documents, development agreements and other legal documentation, in order to ensure that decisions of Council are implemented.
- Support in the preparation, review, and management of legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, agreements, by-laws, and reports.
- Conduct legal and corporate searches (e.g., title searches, corporate profiles, litigation searches) and summarize findings.
- Support real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, easements, and lease agreements.
- Prepare and register site plan, subdivision and other development agreements.
- Maintain and manage legal files, document management systems, and records in accordance with municipal policies and statutory requirements.
- Track deadlines, limitation periods, and court filing requirements to ensure compliance.
- Liaise with internal departments, external counsel, courts, and third parties.
- Assist in the preparation of council and committee materials, including reports, budgets, and confidential documents.
- Assist Municipal Solicitor with all litigation files, including preparation of pleadings, motions and affidavits, and coordination with external counsel.
- Provide general administrative support to the Legal Services team as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including those specific to the department.
- Completion of a College Diploma as Law Clerk or Paralegal or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Paralegal licensing with the Law Society of Ontario is considered an asset.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as a Law Clerk, preferably within a municipal or public-sector environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Teraview, with 5 years of title searching and conveyancing experience.
- Knowledgeable in the practice areas of real estate law, and civil litigation process.
- A working knowledge of municipal and administrative law is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting litigation matters and working with external counsel.
- Proficiency in legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Salary: $87,840 to $106,771 - Grade 5 of the 2026 Non-Affiliated Salary Administration Program.

- This position is currently eligible for a flexible work arrangement option. Further details on this program will be discussed through the selection process.
- Hours of work: 35 hours per week
A satisfactory criminal record check and proof of qualifications will be required for the successful candidate.
Pre-employment testing may consist of written and oral assessments. To be considered successful, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 60% on each test. The highest score attained across the assessments will be used in the final award decision.
