What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the responsible Survey Superintendent, this role will be responsible for coordinating and laying out various aspects of construction projects with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented.
What You'll Do Here:
- Maintain and validate the integrity of the provided control network.
- Collaborate with the Survey Superintendent to ensure project survey equipment is up-to-date, regularly serviced, calibration, and well-maintained.
- Adhere to the Project’s safety protocols as directed.
- Coordinate and execute planning and implementation of survey requirements to support construction activities.
- Maintain constant and direct communication with the foreman and superintendents to ensure that construction requirements are met on time and properly.
- Maintain precise survey records, documentation, and stamped submittals.
- Manage project-specific survey requirements to ensure accurate construction dimensions and locations.
- Conduct layout at various stages of construction.
- Manage as-built information and digital records effectively.
- Supervise, organize, and administer survey operations and personnel.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients.
- Supervise and mentor other surveyors as needed on projects.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in technical engineering/surveying roles or related fields
- Education in technical engineering/surveying or equivalent training and experience in construction surveying
- Thorough understanding of surveying principles, practices, and procedures
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining surveying equipment and software, including Autodesk Civil 3D
- Strong computer skills
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in the construction industry
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with engineering design principles and survey methods
- Experience with GPS and total station operations, ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and capability of lifting up to 50 lbs for surveying equipment and materials.

The expected pay range for this role is $85,000 - $95,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
