Family Service Nova Scotia (FSNS) is a community-based provincial organization that has been supporting individuals, families, and communities since 1969. Supporting service users is at the centre of everything we do.

Program Overview
The Therapeutic Supports program provides Tier 3 clinical intervention services to individuals aged 6 and older, including youth, adults, couples, and families.
Services are delivered through a range of programs and partnerships, including Helpline and Ongoing Helpline, ATTACH, Employment Support Income Assistance, Employee Assistance Program, Strengthening Fathers, Victim Services, Let’s Care Collective, and other community-based initiatives.
Position Summary
The Therapeutic Supports Worker provides clinical, community-based therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families. This role focuses on building strong relationships, supporting mental health and well-being, and helping service users develop practical strategies for change.
The position works within a collaborative team environment and participates in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master of Social Work or a related field OR Master of Counselling Psychology
- Eligibility for registration with a professional regulatory body
Core Responsibilities
Program Planning and Service Delivery
- Manage and maintain an active caseload
- Deliver therapeutic services to individuals, couples, and families
- Prepare for and debrief client sessions
- Maintain consistent communication with service users
- Collaborate with community partners and referral sources
- Manage daily scheduling and appointments
Reflective Practice and Clinical Consultation
- Participate in individual, group, and clinical supervision
- Engage in ongoing consultation with supervisors and colleagues
- Apply reflective and trauma-informed approaches in practice
- Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Manage scheduling, rescheduling, and availability
- Utilize internal systems for documentation and communication
Organizational Support
- Contribute to a positive team and office environment
- Support coverage and program needs as required
- Participate in internal learning and professional development
Operational Responsibilities
- Monitor and request program materials as needed
- Track and submit timesheets and expenses
- Manage scheduling related to vacation and leave
Requirements
- Active registration and good standing with a professional regulatory body
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel within the community
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Maintenance of professional liability insurance
