We are a new, patient-focused Family Medicine and Walk-In Clinic located in Brampton, Ontario. Our team is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to patients of all ages in a welcoming and collaborative environment. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Assistant / Physician Assistant to support our physicians in delivering exceptional patient care.
This position is particularly well-suited for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) seeking valuable Canadian clinical experience in a primary care setting. Candidates with experience using OSCAR EMR are preferred; however, we are happy to train individuals who are eager to learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist family physicians with patient assessments, examinations, and follow-up care.
- Obtain and document patient histories, vital signs, and clinical information.
- Prepare examination rooms and assist with minor medical procedures.
- Accurately document patient encounters using OSCAR EMR.
- Review laboratory, imaging, and specialist reports for physician review.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists, diagnostic imaging facilities, and community healthcare services.
- Conduct patient follow-up calls regarding test results, treatment plans, and appointment reminders.
- Assist with preventive care initiatives, chronic disease management, and patient education.
- Support clinic operations by maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring documentation compliance.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, administrative staff, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to privacy regulations and clinic policies.
Qualifications
Required:
- International Medical Graduate (IMG), Medical Doctor, Physician Assistant
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced primary care environment.
- Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a Family Medicine, Walk-In Clinic, Urgent Care, or Medical Office setting.
- Experience with OSCAR EMR.
- Familiarity with Ontario healthcare systems, referrals, and community resources.
- Previous clinical experience in patient assessment and medical documentation.
- Experience performing basic clinical duties such as vital signs, injections, ECGs, and specimen collection.
