Full job description

Are you currently working in a small or mid-sized public accounting firm, or coming from a smaller owner-managed business where you’ve been deeply involved in the day-to-day accounting function?

Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing company in the Kitchener-Waterloo area, is seeking a hands-on Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of the accounting function and become a key part of a close-knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys full-cycle accounting, variety in their day-to-day work, and the ability to work closely with leadership in a highly visible role where their contributions genuinely make an impact.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and is looking for a stable, long-term opportunity with strong autonomy and ownership.

Please note: This is an on-site position. We are looking for local candidates within a reasonable commuting distance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle AR and AP, including invoicing, collections, vendor payments, and customer/vendor setup
Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and month-end adjustments
Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger account reconciliations
Prepare monthly financial statements, including cash flow reporting
Process payroll and related remittances accurately and on time
File HST returns and maintain compliance with applicable regulations
Prepare year-end working papers and liaise with external accountants for financial statement compilation and tax return preparation
Maintain organized financial records, filing systems, and supporting documentation
Process payments and assist with cash flow management
Analyze financial results and investigate variances
Provide recommendations for process and workflow improvements
Support management with ad hoc financial reporting and analysis
Coordinate travel arrangements and process related expense reports for management
Source and purchase office supplies and support day-to-day office operations
Assist with Health & Safety administration
Organize office events and company functions

Qualifications

5+ years experience working in a small public accounting firm as a bookkeeper or Accountant OR within an owner-managed business handling full-cycle bookkeeping
Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, month-end processes, payroll, and reconciliations
Dependable and hands-on individual
