Business Development Manager – Commercial HVAC

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to expand our commercial HVAC client base and strengthen our market presence in Greater Vancouver. This is a high-level role focused on driving new business and growing recurring service relationships in the commercial and industrial HVAC sector. In this role, you will work closely with company leadership and technical teams to capture new opportunities, deliver on client needs, and play a key part in our growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- New Client Acquisition & Sales Growth: Proactively identify, pursue, and close new commercial HVAC service clients (property managers, facility owners, etc.) using your industry network and prospecting skills.
- Full Sales Cycle Ownership: Own every stage of the sales process – from initial outreach and opportunity identification through proposal development, client presentations, and successful deal closing.
- Preventative Maintenance (PM) Contracts: Drive the generation and conversion of Preventative Maintenance contracts, presenting tailored service agreements that deliver long-term value to clients.
- Pipeline & CRM Management: Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline, using our CRM (BuildOps) to track opportunities, provide accurate forecasts, and lead sales meetings.
- Collaboration with Operations: Work closely with our estimating, project, and service delivery teams – ensuring smooth handoffs from sale to operations and supporting technical discussions or proposals as needed.
- Client Relationship Building: Cultivate long-term relationships with key accounts. Be the face of Evergreen for our clients, ensuring exceptional service, follow-through, and satisfaction.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven Commercial HVAC Sales Experience: Demonstrated success selling HVAC service contracts, maintenance agreements, or mechanical services to commercial or industrial clients. You have a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets in a B2B HVAC environment.
- Technical HVAC Background: Red Seal HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic certification (or equivalent technical HVAC training) is highly preferred – you can credibly discuss mechanical systems with facility managers and engineers.
- Sales Skills & Drive: Exceptional hunting and closing skills, with a self-motivated, goal-oriented mindset. You are adept at prospecting, cold outreach, and building your own pipeline – not just servicing inbound leads.
- Full Solution Selling: Comfortable selling service/maintenance contracts AND retrofit/capital projects, with the ability to articulate value in both quick fixes and long-term solutions.
- Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work with internal teams (estimators, project managers, technicians) and align proposals with operational capabilities. Clear, confident communicator able to present to C-level stakeholders.
- Tech & Tools: Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., BuildOps or similar) to track opportunities and activities. Good computer skills (MS Office) and ability to create professional proposals.
- Other Requirements: Valid Class 5 driver’s license for travel to client sites and events (the role involves travel across the Lower Mainland).
What We Offer:
- Competitive Base Salary: $80,000–$130,000 (commensurate with experience).
- High Earning Potential: Performance-based bonuses ranging $50,000–$150,000+ annually for meeting and exceeding targets (top performers in similar roles earn well into six figures).
