POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Coordinator is a site‑based role responsible for managing material inventory, handling, and distribution at active project worksites to ensure uninterrupted field execution.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, and working in alignment with the Supply Chain Manager, this role ensures that both client‑supplied and company‑supplied materials are received, stored, tracked, and issued in accordance with project requirements and supply‑chain protocols.

The Material Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining material availability, accuracy, and organization, supporting a Just‑in‑Time (JIT) delivery approach and ensuring that field crews have the materials required to execute work safely, efficiently, and without delay.

CORE RESPONSIBLITIES

Material Management & Inventory Control

Manage all material inventory at the project worksite, including:
Receiving, tracking, and storing materials
Issuing materials to field crews
Monitoring stock levels to prevent shortages or excess
Maintain accurate records of:
Material receipts
Inventory levels
Material usage and reconciliation
Delivery and receipt documentation
Specialty tooling records, where required
Ensure both client‑supplied and company‑supplied materials are properly controlled and accounted for
Support reporting of material usage and discrepancies to Project and Supply Chain teams

Material Coordination & Delivery Alignment

Coordinate with Supply Chain and Project Teams to:
Schedule and receive material deliveries
Ensure materials are available in alignment with project schedules
Support Just‑in‑Time (JIT) material flow by:
Tracking upcoming material needs
Communicating shortages, delays, or risks early
Assist in planning and coordinating delivery logistics to site

Yard Operations & Equipment Handling

Operate site equipment, including:
Telehandler
Skid Steer
Loader
Load, unload, and organize materials within the yard and site laydown areas
Maintain safe and efficient material yard layout and storage practices, in alignment with client and company storage requirements

Field Support & Execution Alignment

Work closely with Construction Managers, General Foremen, and crews to:
Ensure timely access to required materials
Coordinate material staging for upcoming work fronts
Support field teams by identifying material-related delays or constraints
Assist with tool and specialized equipment tracking where required

Safety & Compliance

Promote and maintain safe material handling, storage, and equipment operation practices
Ensure compliance with:
Site safety requirements
Handling and storage standards
Applicable regulations and procedures
Identify and address material-related safety risks in the yard and on site

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

High School Diploma.
Certificate or Diploma in Materials, Warehousing, or Supply Chain Management considered an asset or combination of years of experience and education
Journeyman or apprentice powerline technician designation considered an asset
3–5 years of experience in materials handling, inventory control, warehousing, or supply‑chain support in construction or utility environments
Experience in transmission, distribution, or similar field construction environments preferred
Experience or training with operating equipment
Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational and tracking skills
Ability to manage inventory and prioritize material needs in a dynamic environment
Work safely and ability to recognize safety hazards and implement hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards on site
Strong communication skills with field personnel and project leadership
Ability to work independently in a site-based environment
High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and tracking
Understanding of safe material handling and yard operations

Additional Details

This position requires candidates to:

Have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract
Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Work on transmission line projects throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta, with an initial assignment in Regina, SK followed by Edmonton, AB
Work a project-based rotation schedule, initially anticipated to be 21 days on / 7 days off
Eligible for $200/day LOA where applicable while working away from home.
Be willing to travel and relocate to project sites as required

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
