About SwissPay.AI

SwissPay.AI is an e-commerce platform and payments company operating as a managed risk-holding partner of a Tier-1 global payments platform, with a dedicated Canadian processing entity. We onboard, underwrite, and monitor merchants in regulated high-risk verticals, and we carry the underwriting and chargeback risk on our portfolio.

We are completing registration with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business and with the Bank of Canada as a payment service provider under the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA). You will be the named compliance officer of record for both, employed directly by SwissPay.AI, with the authority and access required under the PCMLTFA and FINTRAC guidance.

What you'll own

The AML/ATF compliance program under the PCMLTFA: written policies and procedures, the enterprise ML/TF risk assessment, ongoing training, and commissioning and managing the independent two-year effectiveness review
Compliance officer of record with FINTRAC: registration maintenance, regulator examinations and information requests, and all reporting — suspicious transaction reports, large virtual currency transaction reports, electronic funds transfer reports, and terrorist property reports
Merchant due diligence and enhanced due diligence for high-risk verticals: KYB and beneficial ownership, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction-laundering and factoring detection, MCC and prohibited-category review, ongoing monitoring, and offboarding decisions
RPAA obligations: safeguarding of end-user funds held by SwissPay.AI (including merchant reserves held in trust), reconciliation review and release approvals, operational risk and incident response framework, and annual reporting to the Bank of Canada
Platform partner interface: primary compliance contact for our payments platform partner's risk and compliance teams, including periodic program reporting and sub-merchant file reviews
Enforcement authority: day-to-day authority to approve, decline, restrict, or terminate merchant relationships and to enforce compliance decisions across onboarding, settlement, and finance
Governance: direct reporting line to the CEO, with at least annual reporting to senior management and the board on program effectiveness, findings, and remediation

What you need

5+ years in AML/ATF compliance at a Canadian payment processor, acquirer, MSB, or fintech, including experience as a named compliance officer or deputy MLRO
Working knowledge of the PCMLTFA and FINTRAC guidance; RPAA familiarity a strong plus
CAMS or equivalent certification
Demonstrated ownership of a full AML program, not participation in one: you have written the risk assessment, made the STR file-or-no-file calls, and sat across from a regulator or independent reviewer
High-risk merchant experience: you recognise transaction laundering, factoring, and descriptor abuse in the data
Comfortable as the accountable individual: your name goes on the registration
Must reside in and be legally authorized to work in Canada

Pay: $130,000.00-$170,000.00 per year
