What You’ll Be Doing
· Lead the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems, assemblies, and components
· Develop mechanical drawings, models, specifications, and engineering documentation
· Apply engineering principles including materials selection, tolerancing, thermal systems, fluid mechanics, and structural design
· Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis to support design decisions
· Review vendor drawings, data sheets, and fabrication documentation for compliance and accuracy
· Support manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical and buildable
· Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and technical problem-solving sessions
· Ensure compliance with applicable industrial standards and codes (ASME, CSA, ABSA, API, or equivalent industrial standards)
· Support commissioning, field installation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems as required
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, fabrication, and project management professionals
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
· Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligible for registration with APEGA
· 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial, manufacturing, or engineered systems environments
· Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
· Experience working with fabrication or production teams is considered a strong asset
· Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks or equivalent)
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and act as a technical lead on projects
· Valid driver’s license
· Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with industrial equipment design, fabrication, or mechanical systems integration
· Familiarity with FEA or engineering simulation tools (ANSYS or equivalent)
· Experience supporting commissioning, field troubleshooting, or system validation
· Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering environments (mechanical, electrical, fabrication)
· Experience supporting projects through fabrication, installation, or field revisions is considered an asset
Work Environment
· Full-time, Monday to Friday position
· Combination of office-based engineering work and active shop-floor involvement
· Occasional site visits required for installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting support
· Shop-based environment located in Acheson, AB
· Candidates must be local to the Edmonton/Acheson area, as travel assistance, living out allowance, and relocation support are not available at this time
