Company Overview

We're a creative, trauma-informed private practice in Thunder Bay — with 10

years in business and 25 years of clinical experience behind us. We're looking for

a skilled, warm-hearted MSW who believes healing can be a little unconventional.

If you've ever used a paintbrush as a clinical tool, you might already be our kind

of people.

Heads up: This is not your average job posting. We care about credentials, yes — but

we also care about culture, creativity, and whether you laugh at least occasionally.

SUMMARY

Creative Counselling Thunder Bay is a private practice rooted in creativity,

connection, and compassionate care. We work with children, youth, and adults

navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, and life transitions — and we're not afraid to get a

little artsy about it.

We're looking for an MSW/RSW to join us as an independent contractor. You'll build

a meaningful caseload inside an established, well-loved practice while keeping the

freedom and flexibility of running your own clinical work. It's the best of both

worlds — like having a studio space in a building full of supportive neighbours.

Responsibilities

* Providing individual counselling and psychotherapy to clients across the

lifespan (kids, teens, adults)

* Conducting intake assessments and building individualized treatment plans

* Delivering trauma-informed, culturally responsive, evidence-based therapy

* Keeping accurate and timely clinical documentation (we know, we know — but

it matters!)

* Collaborating with the broader Creative Counselling/EMDR WELLNESS team when it makes sense

* Facilitating groups or workshops as mutually agreed

Must haves;

* Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited institution

* Current registration in good standing with the OCSWSSW (Registered Social

Worker)

* Real, meaningful experience providing therapy — trauma, anxiety, depression,

complex presentations

* Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills (see above re: not

negotiable)

*Valid professional liability insurance

Bonus Points:

* Training or experience in EMDR — bonus gold star if you're already certified

* Expressive arts therapy experience or genuine curiosity about it

* Experience with children and youth (they're our favourite tiny clients)

* Familiarity with dissociative disorders or complex trauma

* Some private practice experience — or a solid plan to build one

The FINE PRINT

This is an independent contractor position — meaning you're your own boss within

our practice. You'll be responsible for your own registration, insurance, taxes, and

the joy of being self-employed. We'll provide a contractor agreement and all the

context you need before anything is signed.
