Full job description

Position Overview

Our client is a well-established, employee-owned engineering consultancy known for delivering technically challenging projects across infrastructure, energy, and resource sectors. They are currently growing their geotechnical team in Vancouver and are seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to support a range of civil and infrastructure-focused projects.

This position offers exposure to multidisciplinary project environments where geotechnical input plays a key role in design, risk management, and construction support. The role is well suited to someone looking to build on their technical foundation while taking on increasing responsibility in project delivery and client interaction.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following

Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, including field programs, drilling coordination, and in-situ testing
Interpret subsurface conditions and provide recommendations related to foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and retaining systems
Contribute geotechnical expertise to projects across transportation, energy, marine, and general civil infrastructure sectors
Prepare technical documentation including design briefs, reports, and proposals
Perform analytical and numerical modelling using tools such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or equivalent software
Support detailed design and assist with preparation of construction-ready documentation
Provide field support during construction, including inspections and performance monitoring
Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on technical deliverables
Assist in managing project tasks, timelines, and deliverables alongside senior engineers

Ideal Candidate Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline
Approximately 7–10+ years of consulting experience in geotechnical engineering
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or close to obtaining registration
Strong working knowledge of geotechnical design practices and applicable standards
Experience with geotechnical software packages (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or similar)
Hands-on experience with field investigations and data interpretation
Ability to communicate technical information clearly through reports and client interactions
Comfortable working in both office and field environments
Willingness to travel to project sites as required
