For over 33 years, Ed-Lam Industrial Contracting has been a trusted provider of industrial fabrication, welding, piping, and maintenance services throughout Alberta's Industrial Heartland. We are an ABSA-certified and CWB-certified company known for delivering quality workmanship, maintaining strong client relationships, and building a workplace where safety and teamwork come first.

We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication shop and oversee daily operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, mentoring employees, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily shop operations, including welding, fitting, fabrication, and material flow.
Coordinate manpower and assign work to welders, pipefitters, labourers, and apprentices.
Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, P&IDs, spool drawings, and work packages.
Work closely with Project Managers and Operations to prioritize workloads and meet production schedules.
Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Conduct daily toolbox meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
Ensure compliance with ABSA, CWB, client specifications, and company quality requirements.
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company and customer expectations.
Assist with planning labour requirements, equipment needs, and shop scheduling.
Mentor apprentices and support employee development.
Coordinate receiving, material staging, and equipment utilization.
Maintain housekeeping and ensure the shop remains organized and efficient.

Qualifications

Journeyman Welder, Pipefitter, or equivalent industrial trade certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory or foreman experience in an industrial fabrication environment.
Strong background in pressure piping, structural steel, and module fabrication.
Excellent understanding of welding processes, fabrication practices, and quality requirements.
Experience working with ABSA pressure piping codes and CWB welding standards.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication packages.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and production scheduling.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
