We currently have an opportunity for a Full-Time Manager, Diagnostic Services. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance & Support Services, CFO, the Manager, Diagnostic Services is responsible for the management and operation of the departments and their functions by performing the activities of planning, organizing, directing and controlling the departments physical, financial, and human resources in accordance with departmental and the organization objectives, policies, and standards.
The Manager of Diagnostic Services leads a team of Diagnostic Imaging professionals including but not limited to General Radiology, Mammography, Ultrasound, Ontario Breast Screening Program, Bone Densitometry, CT and Cardiology inclusive of ECHO, ECG, Cardio, Pulmonary departments and the Diagnostic Imagining support staff.
In carrying out the above duties, the incumbent must be fully knowledgeable and committed to understanding and abiding by ARH’s mission, vision, and values while complying with applicable policies/procedures, including, but not limited to, the code of conduct, health and safety, confidentiality/privacy, risk management, and quality improvement.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership
- Oversee daily operations to support high-quality, efficient diagnostic and public safety services.
- Manage equipment maintenance, vendor relationships, service agreements, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, legislation, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Support operational and strategic planning, including staffing, capital equipment, quality management, and service delivery improvements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including IT, physicians, vendors, and partner organizations, to support effective operations and information systems.
- Oversee PACS/CPACS, RIS, and related imaging systems to ensure data integrity and operational performance.
Technical Leadership
- Reviews and implements guidelines from regulator authorities related to the portfolio including MOHLTC, HARP, and Accreditation Canada.
- Ensures the services have a comprehensive policy and procedure manual to assist staff in the delivery of services.
- Responsible for the operation of the image management / PACS functions not limited to but including data integrity, RIS management, LAN and WAN.
- Network and responsible for modality integration between computer systems (HIS, PACS, Dictation System).
- Responsible for changes to the patient record in the local Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Collaborate with IT to support and enhance diagnostic imaging and cardiology information systems, monitor technical systems, recommend technology improvements, and implement approved changes.
Human Resources
- Oversees staffing needs for technical, clerical, secretarial, and support staff.
- Recruits, trains, schedules, coaches, and evaluates employees.
- Supports payroll and staff engagement initiatives.
- Promotes teamwork and positive labour relations, ensuring compliance with collective agreements, policies, and regulations.
- Responds to staff concerns and collaborates with physicians, leadership, and departments.
- Leads ongoing education and supports current best practices and technologies.
Financial Management / Budgeting
- Develops, manages, oversees operating and capital budgets, and administers the departmental budgets.
- Capital equipment management; manages vendor coordination, RFPs, evaluation, selection, installation, and training.
- Records and justifies monthly variances for operating budgets.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years managerial experience in a hospital clinical environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., health sciences, medical imaging, business administration, or a related field) required.
- Certificate of competence and member in good standing in a related field (e.g. CAMRT, CMRITO)
- Demonstrated experience in supervising / managing in a clinical environment
- Excellent computer knowledge and skills with understanding of standards within the Diagnostic Services and Cardiology departments
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to relate well to diverse groups of healthcare workers
- Proficient on MS-Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Electronic Health Information Systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and on concurrent, multidisciplinary projects
- Experience with a unionized environment and professional guidelines.
Salary range: $119,301.00 to $134,082.00
