Barrie Ocular Surgery is a modern and growing Ophthalmology practice. We provide medical and surgical eye care in the Simcoe/Muskoka region.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician/ Assistant to join our busy eye care practice. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, and able to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment while delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

Perform preliminary patient assessments, including medical history and vision testing.
Conduct diagnostic testing such as visual fields, OCT scans, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
Assist ophthalmologists with examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
Prepare examination rooms and ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
Educate patients regarding procedures, treatments, and follow-up care.
Accurately document patient information in electronic medical records Oscar Pro (EMR).
Maintain patient flow and support clinic operations in a high-volume setting.
Adhere to all clinical, safety, and privacy standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician (required).
Strong knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
Experience working in a fast-paced medical or ophthalmology practice.
Excellent communication and patient service skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure.
