Main functions
In this position you will be part of a team where you can use your technical abilities in our manufacturing environment that focuses on manufacturing and process improvements discipline. This position primarily will focus on supporting the manufacture of respiratory care products (tubing) through extrusion processes to improve quality and efficiency through evaluation/optimization of the process.
This position will focus on supporting the manufacture of our corrugated extruded respiratory care products (our tubing) through Set Up and running the extrusion equipment. Runs set up lines and equipment and conducts Order Change overs. Ensure equipment and product is running according to documentation requirements and address/troubleshoot product and equipment problems. Understands the value of data and accurately records information for setup/ change over and product runs - including optimization of processes and cycles. Specific projects may be assigned by shift supervisor who will provide guidance in the design of experiments and interpretation of results.

Key responsibilities:
- Support, coach and align with Health and safety company policies.
- Support productivity improvement, reducing unnecessary scrap, down time/set-up time.
- Work as part of a team to ensure products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. Can be a part of lab and line trials as required for validation of processes or to understand causes of problems and test potential solutions.
- Install approved tools and blocks in extrusion and corrugator equipment.
- Maintain accurate start up records.
- Support scrap-reduction, cost savings and quality improvement teams, with focus on process and material optimization.
- Be trained and able to competently perform detailed duties according to company Standard Operating Procedures per position requirements.
- Complete tooling set ups and order changes accurately, within allotted time frame
- Investigate specific aspects of product manufacture where improvements are needed or where performance problems have been identified.
- Complete routine Preventative maintenance on equipment as required.
- Ensure that all paperwork and documentation is accurately recorded throughout shift as required.
- Maintain equipment to optimum running conditions.
- Maintain all tooling using all proper tools while working on equipment.
- Promptly report damaged equipment/equipment in need of repair, to Production Mechanical Lead.
- Co-operate with other shift members and shifts. Demonstrate a positive attitude and co-operative environment.
- Communicate and Collaborate with your team members, Team leads and supervisor, and other departments team members throughout product phases, maintaining excellent communication
Housekeeping
It is the responsibility and expectation of every employee at GlobalMed to maintain a clean work environment through basic housekeeping duties:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- ALL tooling not in use must be kept organized.
- Tooling carts must be kept clean and free of debris and clutter.
- Ensure that all garbage and debris is removed from work area.
- Floors must be swept and kept free of material resin, water throughout shift.
Employment and Educational Requirements:
- Post-Secondary education in a technical field or relevant technical experience & skills
- Plastics manufacturing experience an asset.
- Work as part of a Cross functional team and independently with excellent personal time management skills, creating a collaborative project environment is essential.
- Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and Problem-solving capabilities. Flexible during times of change.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Good computer skills including understanding of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Ability to read and write English, numeracy abilities, manual dexterity.
- This position is critical for our day to day operations, and therefore would be a part of a 12 hour continental rotation.
Working conditions:
This position works in the Production areas of the plant. Standard manufacturing work environment.
