Position Description

Ainley Group is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Belleville, Kingston, or Ottawa office. This role allows you to use your technical expertise to plan, design, and oversee transportation network projects within a collaborative and dynamic design team. You will coordinate with clients, manage projects, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality deliverables.

The specifics of the position are as follows:

Responsibilities and Duties

Manage the preliminary and detailed designs and oversee the construction administration associated with highway design projects for the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Lead local and regional teams in the preparation and submission of expressions of interest and proposals to source new highway design projects.
Supervise other designers and technical support staff engaged in the design of highways.
Assisting with the training, mentoring, assessing and recruiting of staff; and
Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors and construction supervision staff.

Qualifications

Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed in Ontario with a minimum of 12 years of relevant design experience, with focus on MTO projects.
Established reputation and professional relationships with MTO and Ontario municipalities.
Experience in planning, preliminary design, detailed design, and construction administration of new or rehabilitated divided highways, arterial, and collector roads.
Proficiency with Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications (OPSS) and drawings (OPSD), TAC and MTO design standards, specifications, policies, Highway Costing System (HiCo), and Contract Preparation System (CPS).
Experience meeting requirements for MTO RAQS registration as Key Personnel is an asset.
Independent, organized, and motivated team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.

Compensation: $120,000 – $165,000 per year

Final compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s specialized experience and technical skill set. While the provided range serves as a general baseline, we take a holistic approach to defining final offers.
