Seine River School Division is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead and oversee divisional facility maintenance, custodial services, and capital project delivery. Reporting to the Secretary-Treasurer, this senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring safe, well-maintained, and efficient learning and work environments across all Division facilities. The Maintenance Supervisor provides strategic and operational leadership for maintenance and custodial staff, works closely with school principals and divisional leadership, coordinates contractors and consultants, and ensures compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, and divisional policies. This role also plays a key part in divisional capital planning and project management.
Responsibilities:
Facilities & Maintenance Oversight
- Lead the upkeep and maintenance of all school division buildings, grounds, furnishings, and security systems
- Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programs for building systems including HVAC, plumbing, life safety, roofs, building envelope, and grounds
- Respond to facility-related concerns and emergent situations, including emergency repairs and after-hours issues
- Investigate facility issues and recommend improvements to support safety, efficiency, and longevity of assets
Leadership & Human Resources
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, municipalities, and suppliers through planning, tendering, construction, and warranty phases
- Participate in recruitment, training, performance input, scheduling, and workforce planning for maintenance and custodial staff
- Ensure collective agreements, workplace policies, and employment standards are followed
- Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance Coordinator, WSH Manager, maintenance staff, and all custodial personnel
Financial & Operational Management
- Support the development and management of the annual facility maintenance budget and multi-year capital plan
- Monitor expenditures, maintain accurate records, and ensure responsible budget control
- Oversee purchasing and tendering processes in compliance with divisional policy and provincial/federal requirements
Capital Projects
- Serve as divisional project manager for facility and capital projects
- Coordinate consultants, contractors, municipalities, and suppliers through planning, tendering, construction, and warranty phases
- Review tender documents, scopes, budgets, progress payments, and change orders
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation, including Workplace Safety and Health requirements
- Promote safe work practices and ensure contractor and staff adherence to safety standards
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Building Construction, Facilities Management, or Red Seal trade certification, or a combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in facilities maintenance and construction services, including supervisory and management responsibilities
- Experience with capital project management, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration
- Class 5 Power Engineering certification or equivalent (preferred)
- Training or experience in workplace safety and health legislation (asset)
- Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
- Strong computer and information technology skills
