ABOUT THE ROLE
As Supervisor – Locate Audits, you will own the quality assurance side of our locating operations across Ontario. You will audit completed locates in the field and on paper, investigate damages and complaints, and make sure every locate we deliver meets LAC guidelines, Ontario One Call requirements, utility-owner standards, and applicable damage prevention legislation.
This is a hands-on quality leadership role for someone who has personally done the work in the field, knows what a correct locate looks like, and can hold a standard. You will work closely with the Manager of Training & Compliance to close the loop between what audits reveal and how we train and improve.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct field audits, documentation reviews, and quality inspections of completed locates across Ontario
- Verify that locates meet LAC guidelines, Ontario One Call requirements, utility-owner standards, and damage prevention legislation
- Investigate damages, complaints, and quality concerns, including root-cause analysis
- Prepare detailed audit reports, scorecards, and corrective action plans
- Track quality metrics and trends, and report findings to management
- Re-locate and validate infrastructure in the field where audit findings require it
- Verify infrastructure against utility maps, as-builts, GIS systems, and engineering drawings
- Partner with the Manager of Training & Compliance to translate audit findings into targeted coaching and program improvements
- Provide technical guidance to locators on locating methods, interpretation, and documentation
- Promote and reinforce a strong safety-first culture on every site
QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior hands-on utility locating experience is required — you must have personally performed locates
- In-depth knowledge of LAC guidelines, industry standards, and applicable regulations is required
- Strong understanding of Damage Prevention best practices
- Proven experience locating gas, hydro, telecom, and municipal infrastructure
- Advanced proficiency with electromagnetic (EM) locating methods
- Strong ability to interpret utility maps, as-builts, engineering drawings, and GIS data
- Experience working within Ontario One Call ticketing systems
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and sound decision-making in field environments
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, defensible audit documentation
- Valid Full G Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience conducting utility locate audits or quality assurance reviews
- Knowledge of LAC accreditation requirements
- Experience operating Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) Certification
- Health & Safety certifications
- Previous supervisory or lead experience
- Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal job sites, plus office-based review work
- Urban and rural terrain including construction zones, gravel, ditches, and uneven surfaces
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Travel across the Ontario service area
- Occasional overtime and weekend work as required
