About the Role
Are you an Alberta real estate legal professional looking to transition into legal tech while staying connected to the work you know best?
We're looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Document Services Specialist to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Alberta real estate law or conveyancing who enjoys solving problems, working directly with clients, and finding ways to make legal processes more efficient through technology.
Reporting to the Manager of Document Services, you'll help law firms customize and optimize their legal documents within Closer, our purpose-built platform for real estate transactions, while providing guidance, training, and support throughout their journey. If you're naturally curious, enjoy learning new technology, and thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Do
- Respond to incoming custom document requests from clients and work with them to understand their precedent needs.
- Use Closer's editor and document tagging systems to build and curate custom legal documents tailored to each client.
- Provide one-on-one training and onboarding to clients on document production within Closer.
- Assist in creating training materials, how-to guides, and tutorial videos to help clients learn and get the most out of the platform.
- Communicate with clients via chat, video call, and other channels to provide ongoing support and guidance.
- Collaborate with the internal team to flag recurring issues and contribute to platform and documentation improvements.
What You'll Bring
- Minimum 2 years of experience in real estate law, conveyancing, or a related field, with direct experience in Alberta real estate transactions.
- Strong understanding of the Alberta real estate closing process, including SPIN II, Real Property Reports (RPRs), and title insurance.
- Experience using conveyancing, legal document management, or document automation software (e.g., LDD, GoVayance, or similar tools).
- Familiarity with Alberta real estate transaction documents, including transfers, mortgages, and other closing-related documents.
- Experience with legal document preparation, template creation, or document automation is an asset.
- Comfortable learning new legal technology platforms; experience with Closer is a bonus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to support clients through video calls, chat, and email.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative, client-focused approach and a genuine interest in helping others succeed.
This is for a newly created position within an existing team.
