Full job description

Job Overview:

MacDougall Steel Erectors Inc. is seeking experienced Structural Steel Welder/Fitters to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fabricating, assembling, and welding structural steel components while ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and engineering drawings.
Fabricate and assemble structural steel components according to specifications.
Perform various welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.
Utilize cutting tools such as torches, plasma cutters, and grinders.
Operate hoists, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.
Inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and compliance with industry standards.
Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order.
Follow all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe work environment.
Work independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel welding and fitting.
CWB certification (FCAW/MCAW, SMAW) would be an asset.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and shop drawings.
Experience with layout, fitting, and fabrication of steel structures.
Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and best practices.
Ability to operate fabrication machinery, power tools, and welding equipment.
Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
