Full job description

Niradia Group of Companies (the “Company”) is a privately owned, proudly Canadian company, founded in 1971 that has long-standing experience, a proven record of accomplishments, and a well-respected presence in Western Canada, operating in four main divisions: Construction Property Management, Real Estate Development (Solterra Group of Companies), Property Management (Rossano Property Management Group), and Hospitality Management. The Company’s properties and projects span British Columbia, Alberta, and the Western United States.

We are currently looking for an Estimator (Senior) to join our division and multiple projects in BC (highrise/ midrise/ warehouse). The division specializes in developing and building top-quality high-rise residences and townhomes..

Essential Functions:

Performs accurate, thorough and timely quantity takeoffs for all systems for all levels of project documents (schematic, design development and construction documents).
Manages multiple projects concurrently with the ability to multitask.
Obtains clarification on plans and specifications from architects and engineers when necessary.
Will assist the project management team in soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and vendor pricing input.
Develops knowledge in building designs, systems and construction materials through available resources and uses this knowledge in guiding the owner to a viable project.
Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload. Proficient in all computer software programs used in pre-constructions.
Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
The majority of the work is completed in an office setting at the main office.
Periodic meetings at off-site locations may occur.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have min 10 + years of pre-construction/estimating experience on construction projects. (Highrise, midrise, warehouses)
Must be able to operate as a standalone estimator and handle complete projects if required. From excavation formwork, all trades from A to Z on all projects!
Possess the ability to estimate all aspects of a residential construction project and assemble into on budget, trade selection, negotiation.
Understanding of costing, and to be able to estimate and deal with changes as they arise.
Resourceful and diligent in seeking solutions to problems and adapting to new situations.

Software Skills:

Strong computer skills, including the ability to use estimating software, word processing, spreadsheets, bid management, online plan rooms and company communication tools.

Must have

Knowledgeable in all of the following building project residential components: civil/site work, foundation and structural systems, interior finishes, exterior wall systems, mechanical and electrical systems and the cost of these systems.
