New Afton

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 105,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About the Role

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8 hours shift

Duration: Permanent, Full-time

Position Reports To: Senior Accountant

Position Overview: The incumbent will carry out Accounts Payable functions within the Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests.
Flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices.
Set invoices up for payment;
Enter and upload invoices into system;
Track taxable benefit expenses and process expense reports;
Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments;
Prepare and perform check runs;
Filing invoices once they have been processed;
Prepare analysis of accounts;
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date;
Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues;
Support the Finance Team by addressing inquiries, pulling data, etc.;
Maintain vendor files;
Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries;
Maintain accurate historical records;
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date;
Vendor statement reviews, reducing repeating invoices month over month;
Other assignments as required.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will be:

Qualified candidates will have completed high school or equivalent
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in Accounts Payable or Business degree with minimum 1-year experience in Accounts Payable (Co-op experience considered)
An ambitious team player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Experience in making assessments for Provincial Sales Tax
Accounting diploma or degree considered an asset
Experience in SAP or other enterprise accounting system an asset
Experience in reconciling general ledger accounts an asset

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

Successful completion of pre-placement functional screen
Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $70,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
