Full job description

Position Summary:

As a Road Crew Technician at Sutton Road Marking, you will join our road crew for the seasonal work period from April through November. This role offers growth opportunities for motivated individuals who are career-minded, possess a strong work ethic, and maintain a positive attitude. You will work alongside your crew, reporting to a Team Lead, and travel daily between worksites in the Lower Mainland, with occasional trips to Vancouver Island and Interior BC.

Due to weather and job demands, you must be flexible to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Training will be provided both in the classroom and on-site to ensure you are prepared for the job.

Job Duties:This individual will be expected to work hands on with crew members performing a variety of duties including:

Operating pavement marking equipment such as paint application machines, removal equipment, as well as hand-held torches and blowers.
Assisting with the application of paint, durable markings and glass bead.
Assisting in layout of new road markings.
Driving various trucks to and from work sites.
Directing traffic (after TCP certification).
Setting up traffic control devices such as signs, delineators and barricades.
Lifting, carrying, loading and unloading materials and equipment.
Maintaining stencils as needed.
Performing minor safety and operational checks.
Recognizing unusual or unsafe conditions and taking appropriate action.
Performing shop work, including general maintenance and repair of equipment.
Other work-related duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

Must be based in the lower mainland of BC or be willing to relocate
Valid BC or other Provincial Driver's License (Class 5) with clean driving record
Willingness to work assigned night or day shifts with flexibility to work long hours
Willingness to travel out of town for short periods of time (hotel, transportation and LOA provided)
Physically fit and able to lift 50 pounds.
Basic reading/writing ability to comply with road signs, complete paperwork
Must be able to receive, understand, and communicate specific instructions
Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, clients and the general public in a courteous, professional matter
Hard working, reliable team player with a positive attitude
Must be able to successfully pass drug screening if requested

Preferred Qualifications:

TCP Certification
Class 3 Drivers Licence
Road Marking Experience
First Aid Certificate

Equipment Required:

Steel toe boots (all other gear is provided)
