Full job description

We are seeking a compassionate, dependable Caregiver and Parents’ Helper to provide attentive, child focused support in a safe, nurturing home environment, with particular sensitivity and skill in caring for children experiencing anxiety, emotional dysregulation, or other mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will assume full responsibility for the household in the parents’ absence, with primary emphasis on supervising and caring for infants and children, tending to their emotional well-being, maintaining consistent routines, and creating a calm, reassuring atmosphere that supports their sense of security and development. Responsibilities include bathing, dressing, and feeding children; preparing them for rest periods; helping with homework; teaching personal hygiene and positive social skills; guiding behavior according to parents’ preferred methods; organizing age-appropriate games, activities, and outings; transporting children to and from school and appointments; keeping daily records of activities and health related information; and maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home. Additional duties include preparing and serving nutritious meals, cooking, and performing light housekeeping such as cleaning, laundry, and caring for household linens, all while working closely with parents to support each child’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs with patience, empathy, and consistency.

Qualifications

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent
Strong verbal communications skills in English
Minimum 1 year experience in similar role working with children
Strong caregiving skills combined with patience, compassion, and professionalism
Ability to prepare meals that meet specific dietary requirements
Valid certification or training in caregiving is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential
Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a temporary resident of Canada with a valid work permit.

Les tâches supplémentaires comprennent la préparation et le service de repas nutritifs, la cuisine et l'exécution de tâches ménagères légères telles que le nettoyage, la lessive et l'entretien du linge de maison, tout en travaillant en étroite collaboration avec les parents pour répondre aux besoins émotionnels, comportementaux et de développement de chaque enfant avec patience, empathie et cohérence.

Qualifications

Diplôme de fin d'études secondaires ou équivalent
Excellentes aptitudes à la communication orale en anglais
Au moins un an d'expérience à un poste similaire auprès d'enfants
Solides compétences en matière de soins, associées à de la patience, de la bienveillance et du professionnalisme
Capacité à préparer des repas répondant à des exigences alimentaires spécifiques
