Full job description

Are you passionate about improving building performance, whether by restoring existing structures or designing durable, efficient envelopes for new construction? We are currently seeking a Project Principal to join our Building Restoration Division to work out of our Burlington, Toronto or Kitchener office.

MTE Consultants is a multidisciplinary engineering firm that has been shaping Ontario since 1985 with offices in Kitchener, Burlington, Toronto, London and Stratford. Our services include civil and structural engineering, building and environmental science, and land surveying.

Responsibilities

Act as technical lead and senior peer reviewer on projects; be responsible for technical review of documents produced by other project managers and junior staff;
Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelope, leakage assessments;
Prepare specifications and manage tendering process;
Procure new projects and clients through identifying business development opportunities and leading proposal efforts;
Attend industry events and help increase MTE’s technical profile in the industry;
Comply with corporate standards; contribute to development of building restoration technical practice systems and training of junior staff;
Expedite projects from inception through the investigation, specification and construction stage;
Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables and be responsible for the financial health of the project;
Through project management you continually seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and to develop lasting client relationships
Be responsible for managing project risks
Manage deliverable compliance
Travel to project sites across southwestern Ontario and in the GTA is required. Mileage will be reimbursed for work related travel;
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Building Engineering;
Minimum of +15 years of related experience in building science within the consulting industry;
P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered;
Well-rounded in building science and structural restoration including knowledge in roofing, waterproofing, structural rehabilitation, masonry, windows, curtain walls, sealants, EIFS, site paving and other cladding systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills;
Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities;
Strong organizational skills;
A team player approach to problem solving;
The successful candidate must possess a valid class G driver’s license.

Salary Range

$112,000 - $144,000 per year base salary, plus benefits

Annual Salary will be based on individual education, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
