Job Title: Electrician – Day Shift
Job Description
This role supports the final stages of an expansion project at a large facility in southeast Calgary. You will install and terminate power and low-voltage wiring, set and wire control and MCC cabinets, install cable tray, and assist with electrical instrumentation work. Depending on your experience, you may also support commissioning and troubleshooting activities on site.
Responsibilities

Install and wire control cabinets and motor control center (MCC) cabinets in an industrial environment.

Pull, route, and secure power and low-voltage wiring according to drawings and site standards.

Install cable tray systems and related supports to safely route electrical cabling.

Perform wire termination and glanding to a high standard of quality and safety.

Assist with the installation of electrical instrumentation and automation equipment.

Support commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems as needed, depending on experience.

Work with PLC control and automation systems
- Collaborate with a team of electricians and apprentices to complete tasks efficiently and safely.

Follow all site safety procedures, including the use of respiratory protection and other required PPE.

Work both indoors and outdoors as required by the project scope and schedule.

For those with leadership experience, provide direction and guidance to other apprentices and team members on site.

Accurately track time and activities using the client’s timecard system.
Essential Skills
-
Registered as a 2nd year electrical apprentice or above, or equivalent level of experience.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in industrial construction electrical work.

Hands-on experience with electrical conduit installation and wiring in an industrial setting.

Ability to install and work with cable tray systems, including cable tray installation and cable routing.

Proficiency in pulling wire, termination, and glanding of cables.

Experience working with controls, automation, PLC control, and instrumentation in an industrial environment.

Comfortable wearing a respiratory device when required by site conditions.

Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions as required by the project.

Ability to read and follow instructions, procedures, and direction in a construction environment.

Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew on an active industrial site.

Work Environment
The position is working primarily on an expansion area while the existing compost processing operations remain active. The project includes installation and commissioning of equipment such as a flare stack designed to reduce overall environmental impact. You will work as part of a team of approximately 10–15 people in a mixed indoor and outdoor industrial environment, and you must be comfortable working outdoors when required. The role follows a first-shift schedule of 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with about 2 hours of overtime available per day. There is also an opportunity to work additional overtime on weekends, with all weekend hours paid at 1.5 times the standard hourly rate. Appropriate personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection when required, must be worn in accordance with site safety rules.
