Sales Executive (HVAC, Plumbing & Electrical)

Location: Kitchener / Waterloo, ON (Office Based – K/W Region)

Reports To: Regional Sales Manager Company: Smith and Long Limited

The Opportunity

Are you a high-achieving sales professional who thrives on building technical partnerships rather than just "closing deals"? Smith and Long Limited is seeking a motivated and experienced Sales Executive to spearhead our business development efforts in the Kitchener/Waterloo region.

This is a pivotal role designed for a "hunter" who possesses a deep understanding of the mechanical and electrical construction landscapes. You won’t just be selling services; you will be providing integrated solutions to contractors, service companies, and project managers, ensuring Smith and Long remains the gold standard for multi-trade excellence.

The Mission (Expectations & Key Responsibilities)

Within the first 6–12 months, the successful candidate will be expected to:

Market Expansion: Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities within the HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical sectors to meet and exceed annual sales targets.
Relationship Management: Transition from "vendor" to "trusted advisor" for our existing portfolio of contractors and project managers.
Technical Consultation: Provide high-level product knowledge and technical solutions that align with the complex needs of mechanical systems.
Strategic Pipeline Management: Own the full sales cycle—from initial prospecting and technical bids/quotes to diligent follow-up and closing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with our internal operations and estimating teams to ensure project timelines are met and customer satisfaction is guaranteed.

Technical Literacy: Ability to speak the language of the trades and understand complex mechanical/electrical components.
Organization & Follow-through: High attention to detail in managing multiple quotes and project opportunities simultaneously.

Integrity: Represents the Smith and Long brand with the highest level of professionalism and ethics.

Qualifications

Industry Experience: Proven track record in HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, or Mechanical industry sales.
Regional Knowledge: Strong existing network within the Kitchener/Waterloo contractor and service markets.
Logistics: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (regular travel within the region is required).
Education: Post-secondary education in business, engineering, or a related technical trade is considered an asset.
