Full job description

We are seeking a skilled operator with experience operating rubber tire excavators to work on our exciting and ever-expanding portfolio of commercial and civil projects.

Thunderbolt Contracting is a family-owned landscape contractor located in the Nation’s Capital since 1992. We have a dedicated team of over 150 employees and a modern fleet of equipment to take care of each project from start to finish. Working at Thunderbolt means being part of a large team with the resources to help you perform your best.

Responsibilities:

· Operate a rubber tire excavator to safely and efficiently perform excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling tasks.

· Maneuver equipment with precision in tight or urban environments to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.

· Perform trenching for utilities, backfilling, grading, and site preparation work.

· Load trucks and move materials such as soil, aggregates, and debris.

· Work closely with the site foreman and crew to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

· Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure the equipment is safe and in proper working order.

· Maintain accurate records of on-site activity including time tracking, work orders, health and safety forms, equipment logs, etc.

· Travel between job sites using the rubber tire excavator where appropriate.

· Communicate issues relating to employee relations, equipment issues, and customer concerns, and suggest possible solutions.

· Maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive work environment.

· Follow all health and safety policies and procedures prescribed by the Company and WHMIS Guidelines in performance of duties.

· Other duties as required. This is not a complete list of all possible tasks or responsibilities, and you may be asked to perform other duties that are not explicitly mentioned above.

Requirements:

· At least 3 years of experience operating a rubber tire excavator or similar equipment.

· Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

· A sound understanding of safety guidelines.

· Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure.
