General LabourerJob Summary

Mountainco Contracting Ltd. is seeking a motivated, reliable, and safety-focused General Labourer to join our growing team. This position plays a key role in supporting civil construction operations, including underground utilities, site development, roadworks, and municipal infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting crews with a variety of physically demanding tasks while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in producing high-quality work, and are looking to develop a long-term career in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Perform general labour duties including digging, shoveling, lifting, carrying, grading, and site cleanup.
Support the installation of underground utilities, drainage systems, waterworks, and other civil construction activities.
Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment as directed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free worksite.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
Work collaboratively with supervisors, equipment operators, and fellow crew members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Assist with traffic control, material handling, and other site operations as required.
Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or equipment deficiencies to supervisors promptly.
Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.

Qualifications & Skills

Previous construction or general labour experience is considered an asset but is not required.
Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy materials and performing strenuous work in various weather conditions.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset.
Construction safety certifications (such as First Aid, WHMIS, Traffic Control, or Confined Space) are considered an asset.
