If you are looking for an exciting auxiliary opportunity with the City of Burnaby, here’s your chance! The Planning & Development department is seeking an auxiliary Clerk Typist 3 to join the team. This person will have excellent communication skills and knowledge of clerical work. The incumbent is responsible for the preparation, processing, and maintenance of a large volume of records, files and building permits pertaining to department activities, manually and/or by using a computer terminal to enter, revise, update and retrieve information. Other tasks may include data entry, word processing reports, letters, memos, forms, court and legal documents. Makes up payrolls for a large department unit; checks a variety of receipts, cheques, and invoices; maintains related records. Ensures all entries are processed accurately and rapidly. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include up to high school graduation, including or supplemented by courses in word processing and standard commercial subjects plus considerable related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Rapid and accurate typing is crucial. The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of business English in written and oral form; of clerical and record keeping methods and procedures; the ability to understand and interpret oral and written instructions; ability to make moderately complex computations and tabulations. Ability to successfully meet and effectively deal with the public in interpreting and explaining departmental rules and regulations.
Pay Rate: $31.58 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits
Location: City Hall
Hours of work: This is an auxiliary position. The hours and shifts are based on operational requirements and can vary. This auxiliary position do not provide guaranteed hours of work. Typical shifts in this position will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:00PM.
