Who We Are: Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Delegated Aboriginal Agency governed by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Board. KKCFSS is available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory.

The Opportunity: We are looking for a dependable, compassionate Social Work Assistant to provide direct, hands-on support to our Intake Team.

You will work alongside delegated Social Workers, helping carry the practical, day-to-day work of casework so they can focus on assessment and decision-making. This includes transporting clients, supervising access visits, supporting families with paperwork, and keeping case documentation organized and current.

In the Role of Social Work Assistant, You Will:

Provide direct assistance to delegated Social Workers by gathering information and supporting the preparation of case management plans, reports, and documentation
Supervise and support scheduled access visits and family time between children/youth in care and their families
Provide transportation for children, youth, and families to appointments, visits, school, and other services
Support youth in care with developing independent living skills, liaising with service providers such as the Ministry of Housing and Social Development and Ministry of Education
Support parents and caregivers with completing forms, applications, and required documentation
Explore and connect families with community resources for information and referral
Attend client appointments and home visits on behalf of a Social Worker when they are unavailable
Maintain accurate, confidential client records and coordinate administrative aspects of case management

What You Will Bring to the Role:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field
A two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or Child Care, with two years of experience working with children, youth and families; or
Completion of two years of a four-year degree in Social Work or Child and Youth Care, with two years of experience working with children and youth
Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is preferred
Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology, or Nursing
NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, it must be assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). A comprehensive report and supplemental report must be provided

Knowledge & Skills

Strong relational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with children, youth, and families
Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed practice, and strengths-based approaches
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Computer skills for Microsoft Word, Outlook, and case management systems (e.g., MIS, ICM)
Comfortable adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced casework environment
Sound knowledge of Indigenous history, issues, and current realities in BC and Canada
Valid BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle
