Painter / Labourer

Overview

SMAT Painting & Renovations is seeking a motivated Painter / Labourer to join our growing team. This position involves a variety of painting, renovation, and general labour tasks on residential and commercial projects throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.

The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, safety-conscious, and eager to learn. Previous painting or construction experience is required.

We take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. We are looking for individuals who share our commitment to professional results, reliability, and maintaining high standards on every project.

Responsibilities

Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking.
Apply paint, stain, and specialty coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
Assist with drywall repairs, minor carpentry, demolition, and restoration work as required.
Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to and from job sites.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Safely operate hand tools and power tools.
Follow company safety procedures and site-specific requirements.
Work effectively with team members to complete projects on schedule and to a high standard.
Interact professionally with clients when working in occupied homes or businesses.

Qualifications

Previous painting, construction, restoration, or renovation experience is an asset.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
Comfortable working on ladders and various job sites.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
Good communication and customer service skills.

Position Type

This is an Independent Contractor / Freelance position. Successful candidates will be engaged as subcontractors and are responsible for providing invoices for work completed and managing their own taxes and deductions. This is not a payroll employee position.

Requirements

Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
Must have a reliable vehicle and be able to travel independently to various job sites throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas.
Ability to provide invoices for hours worked.
Previous painting, renovation, construction, or general labour experience is an asset.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
Ability to work safely and professionally on residential and commercial job sites.
