About the Alberta Kinesiology Association (AKA):
The Alberta Kinesiology Association is the professional organization representing Kinesiologists in Alberta. We promote the advancement of kinesiology, advocate for the profession, support members through professional development, and protect the public by maintaining high standards of practice.

Position Overview:
The Alberta Kinesiology Association is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Treasurer on its volunteer Board of Directors. The Treasurer plays a vital governance role, ensuring the financial health and accountability of the organization. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for someone with a background in finance, accounting, or business who is passionate about advancing the field of kinesiology in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the financial affairs of the AKA and ensure they are legal, constitutional, and within accepted accounting practice.
Monitor and report on the financial health of the organization at board meetings.
Work with the administrator to prepare and present annual budgets and financial statements.
Ensure proper financial controls and systems are in place.
Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the overall direction of the Association.

Ideal Candidate:

CPA.
Experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
Familiarity with non-profit governance and financial management.
Strong integrity, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
Effective communicator and collaborator.
Previous board or volunteer leadership experience is an asset.
Passion for health, wellness, kinesiology, or allied health professions.

Time Commitment:

Approximately 5–10 hours per month.
Attendance at monthly board meetings (virtual).
Additional time as needed during budget planning and year-end reporting.
