About the Role:

The Youth Justice Support Worker will be responsible for positive relationship building, effective caseload management, supportive counselling, and facilitation of educational and life skills workshops to program participants. YMCA YOU-Turn is available to youth from any socio-economic and cultural background who are reintegrating out of detention, institution, are on probation, have re-offended or have relocated for personal safety. The program supports youth from Edmonton and rural communities through a client-centered approach of meeting youth where they are at, identifying, and building on their protective factors and natural supports.

The Youth Justice Support Worker is responsible for the effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of program services. The Youth Justice Support Worker carries out their duties in a professional manner and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures, standards of practice, health and safety standards, child protection standards and contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.

This position requires a regular use of a vehicle. You must be able to work a flexible schedule including evening and possible weekends to meet the needs of the youth we work with. This is a full time contract position till October 2, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

Accepting referrals from referring agencies.
completes participant intake and/or assessment to inform ongoing participant supports to reach participant and funder outcomes.
One-to-One Support with youth.
Connecting with youth's professional and natural supports.
Completing community referrals for youth.
Develop and implement Individual Action Plans in collaboration with each youth on caseload and determine individualized direction that meet participants' needs.
Develop and facilitate workshops
Performs case management as per guidelines and funder mandates.
Provide service coordination and navigation.
Maintains knowledge of relevant services and community resources.
Attending internal/external training opportunities / conferences / webinars.
Completing monthly / annual reporting requirements.
Collect statistical information as defined by funders and YMCA.
Ensure timely, effective communication with program partners.
Comply with all YMCA and program financial targets where assigned.
Demonstrate excellent time management.
Contribute as a member of the staff team in the operation of the program, and complete other duties as assigned.
Demonstrate and promote a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values and the YMCA programs and services.

Qualifications:

University Degree in Human Services or related education.
2+ years experience working with youth and diverse populations.
Working knowledge of issues/practices related to the social determents of health, youth development, individual assessment, case management, group work, group facilitation, program planning and outcome evaluation.
Working knowledge in culturally sensitive and trauma-informed practice, and strength-based approach as considered assets.
Standard First Aid and CPR-C, Intervention Record Check, Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Intervention Certification preferred.
Able to obtain Edmonton Police Services Enhanced Clearance Check (to be completed following start date).
Valid driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed for community events or meetings.
