THE OPPORTUNITY

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, identifying trends, variances and key drivers impacting results
Lead financial statement review meetings and provide insights
Develop and maintain management reporting packages (KPIs, dashboards, variance reports)
Assist in annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles, updating financial projections based on business changes
Conduct ad hoc analysis for operations, finance and other teams
Perform month-end close activities including journal entries, account reconciliations, and subledger reviews
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
Oversee the capital expenditure process including annual budgeting, periodic forecasting, meeting organization and corporate reporting
Maintain the daily journal batch update process
Monitor the Goods Received Note (GRN) process, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner
Oversee the leased vehicles process
Execute ad hoc updates to Finance Master Data
Assist with internal and external audits, preparing supporting schedules and documentation
Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls
Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, enhance financial models and tools, and contribute to process standardization across finance
Prepare daily/weekly bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and resolve in a timely manner
Prepare and submit monthly GST/HST and other government reporting in a timely manner.

THE REQUIREMENTS

University degree in Accounting and/or Business Administration
CPA designation completed or in progress is considered an asset but not a requirement
1-3 years experience in a finance role
Extensive experience with large fully integrated ERP computer systems
Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.
Knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records and the like is essential.
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications.
Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel.
Knowledge of publicly traded companies.
Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent problem solving and organizational skills are essential.
Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
Attention to detail in all areas of work.
