Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems across various projects. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and safety standards as they relate to substation and underground work. The Electrician will work in diverse environments, utilizing a wide range of tools and machinery to ensure the safe and efficient functioning of electrical infrastructure.

Duties

Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, panels, and systems in substation and underground work
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete electrical work
Perform low voltage wiring and systems installation as required
Conduct inspections to identify electrical issues and implement appropriate solutions
Collaborate with team members to execute projects efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
Assist with welding tasks related to electrical infrastructure when necessary
Operate heavy equipment as required.

Requirements

Electrical Trade Certification; Red Seal Endorsement preferred;
Preferred 5+ years of journey experience in electrical/underground/substation construction;
Strong understanding of electrical systems and safety standards;
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and rigging techniques;
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage a team;
Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity; and,
Valid Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Regular travel (primarily across NS/NB), sometimes for extended shift schedules;
Lifting (loading and unloading) objects up to 60lbs;
Working outside for long hours in all weather conditions, sometimes in remote areas;
Sometimes traversing uneven/offroad terrain in remote locations; and,
Potential for encounters with local wildlife and insects.
