Our client, a growing and established organization in Halifax, is seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their dedicated accounting team. This is a newly created permanent position driven by continued growth and provides an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys both the accuracy of transactional work and the opportunity to dig deeper into financial data and processes.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

Process high-volume accounts payable transactions, including invoice entry, coding, matching, and payment processing

Maintain accurate vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries

Perform account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
-
Support month-end close activities, including AP-related reporting and analysis
-
Review financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for process improvements
-
Maintain organized documentation and ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures
-
Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and leadership team members to resolve issues and provide insights

Assist with additional accounting projects and initiatives as required
Experience & Attributes for Success:
-
2+ years of experience in accounts payable, accounting administration, or a similar role
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
-
Prior experience with Yardi is considered a definite asset

Strong analytical skills with the ability to investigate issues and understand the why behind the numbers

Dedicated attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume data entry accurately

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels, including leadership

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
