Strive Centre Kelowna is seeking a motivated and community-minded Program Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This opportunity is ideal for youth interested in gaining experience in community services, recreation programming, administration, and non-profit operations.

This role combines administrative support with involvement in recreation programming, events, and participant engagement within the centre. This role provides valuable hands-on learning opportunities in administration, recreation programming, communication, and community support within a non-profit setting.

The successful candidate will support daily program and administrative operations while contributing to a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for adults with diverse abilities.

Position Details

Position: Program Assistant (Canada Summer Jobs)
Location: Strive Centre, Kelowna, BC
Hours: 35 hours per week (Between Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm)
Duration: 8-week temporary summer position
Start Date: Immediately
End Date: August 28, 2026
Compensation: $21.00 per hour

Eligibility Requirements – Canada Summer Jobs Program

To be eligible for this position through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, applicants must:

Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment
Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally permitted to work in Canada

Job Duties May Include but Not Limited to:

Welcome participants and visitors while supporting front desk operations
Answer phones, respond to general inquiries, and assist with scheduling support
Assist with data entry, attendance tracking, filing, and organizing documentation
Prepare program materials, orientation packages, activity supplies, and resource boards
Support staff with recreational activities, events, and community outings
Assist with participant engagement and day-to-day activities within the centre
Support supervisors and program staff with small operational and administrative projects
Contribute to maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive environment

The ideal applicant shall possess:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable using computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications
Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Interest in community living, recreation, social services, or administration considered an asset
Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities is considered an asset, but not required
