Full job description

Benson Law is a community-focused law firm located in the Rutland area of Kelowna. We pride ourselves on providing practical, client-focused legal services in a friendly and professional environment. We value teamwork and creating a workplace where people enjoy coming to work each day.

We are currently seeking a legal assistant with at least 2 years of experience in corporate, commercial, and wills & estates matters to join our team.

The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, pays close attention to detail, and enjoys working directly with clients and colleagues in a collaborative office environment. Our lawyers and support staff are approachable, responsive, and available to provide direction or discuss files as required, ensuring that legal assistants feel supported and that client matters continue to move forward efficiently.

Responsibilities may include:

Preparing and organizing legal documents and correspondence;
Assisting with corporate transactions;
Drafting wills, powers of attorney, and assisting with estate administration matters;
Communicating with clients, financial institutions, and third parties;
Managing calendars, appointments, and file deadlines; and
Providing general administrative and file support as required.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience as a legal assistant;
Experience in corporate, commercial, and wills & estates preferred;
Strong organizational and time management skills;
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently;
Professional, personable, and client-focused approach; and
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

This position is initially intended to cover a maternity leave; however, there may be an opportunity for the role to become permanent for the right candidate.
